Diagnosing Educational Issues

After struggling with my daughter through her schooling for years, I began trying to figure out what I needed to do. I started focusing more seriously on helping her at home, but I wasn’t quite sure how to go about making things better. I started talking with her teachers about how to make positive changes, and it was neat to see how much better things became. We began working through various things, and it was really powerful to see how much happier she was with a great educational plan. Seven Things That Can Give A Student The Highest Chances Of Success At A Montessori Preschool

Education & Development Blog

Montessori preschools involve some unique educational methods. Students entering a Montessori preschool will get more out of the experience and be more successful if they are adequately prepared beforehand.

The following are seven things students entering preschool can work on in advance to enjoy the highest chances of success in a Montessori program.

Independence

One of the most basic parts of Montessori teaching is encouraging independence. It helps if children are encouraged to think independently and make their own decisions at home before they start preschool.

Although young children need guidance, they'll flourish more easily in a Montessori environment if they learn independence as early as possible.

Language skills

Mastering language skills is important in Montessori preschool education. It helps to prepare young students for Montessori preschool by exposing them to as much conversation and reading as possible. This will expand their vocabulary to build confidence and understanding.

Respect of others

Respect for authority and fellow students is essential for preschool students in any type of learning environment. Montessori programs stress learning respect from the start so that students can function well in their future academic careers and later as adults as well.

Familiarity with routines

Although Montessori preschool programs encourage creativity and imagination, they are also structured programs that require students to adjust to routines. Students adjust to the routines of Montessori preschools more easily when they have been introduced to routines beforehand at home.

Confidence

It's best to build up a child's confidence when getting ready to start Montessori preschool. Young children can feel overwhelmed and nervous about starting preschool.

The more confident young students are, the less they worry about beginning school. Confident students tend to look forward to starting school rather than worry about it.

Organization

It's never too early to start teaching young students organizational skills. Students will need to learn to stay organized to function well in a Montessori classroom environment.

To prepare kids for the organizational demands of a Montessori preschool, it's a good idea to teach them to clean up after themselves and put their things away.

Motivation

Because Montessori programs are often more self-directed than traditional programs, students get more out of them when they're highly motivated. Kids can become more motivated when they are given opportunities to study and learn about subjects that are particularly interesting to them.

If you have a child who will soon be enrolling in Montessori preschool, give them the chance to choose their own books and educational films to encourage motivation.
